Weight loss success requires making lifestyle changes as much as changing your mindset.
No matter if you want to lose weight, tone up or maybe even built massive muscles–you must get your mind right before you can successfully change your body. While it is certainly true that at least 70 percent of your progress will depend on your nutrition and 30 on physical effort, I would also like to point out that it depends 100 percent on your mental state.
Granted, making changes in your life requires a lot of will power. But what if you simply change your focus from the things you hate, such as NOT fitting into your skinny jeans, to feelings that give you pleasure, like being comfortable in swim wear at the beach for example.
Pleasure has been proven to be the most powerful motivator for humans. Think about all the bad things we do to get those feelings of pleasure in spite of the unpleasant consequences: we eat unhealthy food, we might enjoy alcohol way too much, and some of us even have destructive affairs.
The bottom line is, you have a much better chance of motivating yourself to keep going on your fitness and weight loss journey if you use pleasure as fuel. Here are some tips you can try:
- Find an activity/workout program you actually enjoy doing. That way you will look forward to it rather than dreading it.
- Remind yourself of how great you will feel when you achieve your fitness or weight loss goal. Picture yourself with the body you want in your favorite outfit.
- Think of health food as youth serum for your body that will make you look and feel at least 10 years younger.
- Decide how you want to spend the money you are saving by not eating junk food anymore. Maybe you want to go on a tropical vacation or buy a hot outfit that shows off your new body.
Ultimately, people with a lot of will power have simply learned how to use pleasure as motivator when the going gets tough. You can achieve weight loss success by doing the very same thing. It’s all about having the right mind set.
